Position Overview
The Assistant Site Supervisor will be responsible for the on-site supervision of construction activities that take place on company work sites, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, workmanship and efficiency. The Assistant Site Supervisor will be responsible for the management of all on-site construction workers and enforcement of all required safety and work regulation policies. All work crews and individuals on-site shall take direction from the assistant site supervisor, who is responsible for assigning required work and applying resources to accomplish that work.  The Assistant Site Supervisor will be responsible for the efficient use of labor, machines, and materials by their crews, and will report on such things as personnel, costs, schedule and safety.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Follow and maintain an efficient schedule to allow for quality
  • Guide and direct subcontractors and assist them where necessary
  • Order materials and schedule deliveries
  • Advise our trades on our quality control standards.
  • Ensure that Occupational Health & Safety standards are met and safety reports completed on a weekly basis (?)
  • Perform quality control inspections at various stages of construction
  • Daily inspection of the sites to ensure cleanliness
  • Maintain accountability to both yourself and company expectations
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • College diploma in appropriate construction related field an asset
  • 5 + years’ experience as a Construction Assistant Site Supervisor or equivalent
  • A solid understanding of all construction trades and construction techniques
  • Strong management, delegation, planning and leadership skills
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures
  • First Aid skills and/or other relevant certificates are considered assets
  • Effectiveness in the areas of construction safety and productivity
  • Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances and legislation
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings and blueprints and equipment specifications
  • Notable communications, clearly and concisely in multiple forms of media
  • Influential interpersonal skills, building positive and strong relationships at all levels of the organization, as well with external clients, vendors and contractors
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills and experience with industry standard software
  • Self-motivated, strong analytical skills and detail-oriented
